Report: Feliciano Named Primary Set-Up Man

According to Marty Noble on Mets.com, familiar face Pedro Feliciano has won the eighth inning gig for the New York Mets going into the 2010 season.

Pedro Feliciano has primarily been a lefty specialist for the duration of his Mets career, and this will be the first time he will be counted on to get both lefties and righties out.

Feliciano beat out competitors like Ryota Igarashi, Bobby Parnell, and Kelvim Escobar amongst others. Igarashi hasn't impressed this spring, Parnell is being sent down to Triple A, and Escobar hasn't even pitched in a spring training game yet.

This all but assures that Hisanori Takahashi will be placed in the Mets' bullpen to replace Feliciano as the primary lefty-specialist, and that Jon Niese will win the 5th starters job. As I said in my previous post, the Mets look to be finalizing their roster!
