Game Recap: Mets at Cardinals

The New York Mets fell to the St. Louis Cardinals today by a score of 2-1. The Mets primarily trotted out their B-Squad while the Cardinals had almost their entire starting lineup today.

At the plate: The Mets compiled 4 hits today, matching the Cardinals number of hits. Fernando Tatis had half of the Mets hits, while Frank Catalanotto had the lone RBI on the day. Gary Matthews Jr, Henry Blanco, and John Maine all had two strikeouts a piece.

On the mound: John Maine had one of his stronger outings of the spring, only giving up 3 hits, two of which were home runs. He also had his longest outing of the spring, going a full five innings. Fernando Nieve, Kiko Calero, Elmer Dessens, and Pedro Feliciano combined to throw the final three innings of the game, only giving up one hit combined.

The Screwball Player of the Game goes to John Maine for his strong start today.
